Congratulations to Lin Milne on passing her practical examination and becoming a fully qualified GSDCV Obedience Instructor. This is the culmination of 2 years of training and an earlier theory exam. GSDCV Fun Day 2011 at Eastern Branch
A great turnout from Malvern at the Fun Day with 31 Members and Dogs attending including 28 Entries. Fantastic.
Some excellent results with some standout winners and placegetters.
Leo Scheiner & Hera 1st place in Grade 2 and the Overall Highest Score with 198 points. Well done.
Dearne Jackson & Barney 1st place in Veterans ( as part of a trio entry with Gayle & KCee and Judy & Emmy, all 3 from the same Glenraco litter).

HALTI CLASS - SUN 4 SEP 9:30
There will be a Halti class on Sunday 4 Sep starting at 9:30am. If you currently use a Halti, or are considering using a Halti, then this class will show you how to use a Halti effectively to train your dog. Halti's can provide assistance in training your dog. All Halti users should attend. See you there.
PS The Halti class was very successful and many members arrived early for the class, see photo below.

Come early on Sunday 28 August for a free sausage sizzle, 9:15 - 9:45. Give your dog time to relax and settle down before class.

GSDCSA Show and Obedience Trial - Adelaide
11 Malvern members and their dogs will be make a roadtrip to Adelaide over the long weekend to compete in the GSDCSA Conformation Show and Obedience Trial. We wish them all fun and success.

ROADTRIP - 39th National German Shepherd Dog Show and Trial
10 Malvern members, 21 dogs, 8 cars, 2 dog trailers and 1 caravan will soon be driving to Sydney for the 39th National German Shepherd Dog Show and Trial to be held over the Easter long weekend.
Handlers and dogs will be competing in Conformation Show events and in Obedience Trial events. We wish them all fun and success. Go Malvern, Go Victoria.
But could it just be an excuse for a fun weekend away with the dogs?
Tickets are $1 each or 3 for $2.
'2001: A Space Odyssey' is Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece in Sci-F...i and arguably the greatest science fiction film of all time.
The Astor is showing '2001' in all its glory in 70mm with six track sound on their huge SuperScreen.
If you have never seen '2001' here is your chance to see it the way it was meant to be seen. If you have seen it before this is a film you never tire of.

Malvern in the Moomba Parade
Some intrepid Malvern members were part of the Moomba Parade on March 14th as part of the Royal Melbourne Show's 'Best in Show' float, walking down Swanston St watched by 70,000+ members of the public !!! Those involved were Dearne Jackson with Polly, Gayle Johnston with Al, Dawn Howard with Rain, Margie McCluskey with Cailin, Grant Milne with Abbi, Ken McKay with Nero and Jacinta Poole with Dizzy. Lin Milne was our official photographer and Anca Tilea our ‘judge’ for the parade. Non Malvern members involved were Vince Ebejer with Jipcee, Ian Woollard with Jake, Bernie Lester with Harvey.

We didn't make it on to TV, but the dogs won many new friends and we all had a great time!!
Well done and thankyou to our magnificent German Shepherd Dogs and their handlers.
But the dogs were the stars of the show, and here are the Malvern Stars...... !!
State Breed Exhibition Show & Trial, March 2011
At the Recent GSDCV State breed Show, Rosalie and Seb finsihed 5th in their class, and Anca and Stella 4th. Well done on the pegs !!! In the obedience ring, Joss Roffey and Ella worked hard to finish 2nd, and finally Jacinta and Dizzy had success, winning the CCD class. Well done to all!!

Congrats to Dearne and Polly, who was 1st placed in Aus bred !!!, Well done to Gayle and Daisy who had a great day out in the Intermediate class and to Rosalie and Seb and Anca and Stella, who were 1st time puppies in show, and they had a great time !!
